| In the year 2000, the world was devastated by the second impact, which destroyed Antartica and caused terrible changes in the weather. 15 years later Shinji Ikari arrives in Tokyo-3 at the exact moment that a huge creature is attacking. As NERV, the agency that brought him there, soon informs him, it's called an angel - and they want Shinji to pilot the only thing that can stop it, the awe-inspiring Evangelion 01. Shinji agrees when he realizes that he has no other choice, and defeats it, only to discover that the battle will not end there, and is far darker and more complex than all but a few realize. What were the first and second impacts? What are the Angels after? What is the real agenda of NERV? And why were all the Eva pilots born exactly nine months after the second impact?
