| My Neighbor Totoro is a charming little Miyazaki film about some friendly forest gods. While it's intended for a much younger audience than anything else on this site, it's also family-friendly enough for anyone to enjoy. The only problem is that the movie moves a bit too slowly for younger audiences at times. As the story opens Satsuki and Mei have recently moved to the countryside with their father. Their mother is in the hospital sick (with what appears to be tuberculosis, placing this story somewhere in the middle part of the 20th century). It's hard on them worrying about their mother, but their lives are turned upside down when the youngest discovers three furry creatures, called Totoros, living deep in the forest. Which, as it turns out, only children can see them. Are they real or imaginary? You'll just have to see for yourself.
Miyazaki does it again. Very nice movie.
