| TMPGEnc has developed a high quality MPEG-1/2 encoding solution that can be used by both beginners and professional users.
TMPGEnc Plus has Wizard mode, which is especially useful for beginners. The wizard mode includes DVD mode for those who wish to create their own DVD video disk.

In just a few easy steps the Wizard mode enables the user to easily create MPEG files used for VideoCD, SuperVideoCD, DVD-Video.

TMPGEnc Plus and TMPGEnc Server have full MPEG-2 encoding features.
- Output AVI/WAV file (Free demo, Plus, Server)
Once TMPGEnc resizes or uses filter effect or color adjustment, it can be outputted as AVI format. This allows the user to try encoding again and again to achieve the desired quality, and thus save time for Multi-pass CQ mode. Also, once an AVI file is created, it is useful to compare to the encoded MPEG file.
- High quality mode with estimated file size, Multi-pass CQ (Plus:2pass, Server : up to 20pass)
Although difficult to achieve, we are aiming at storing high quality 2 hour movie into one DVD-R (4.7GB). In this case, user needs to set the average bitrate at 3500 to 4000 kbps, which is far from ?ghigh quality, but using the Multi-pass CQ mode, a better quality can be expected with a low bitrate setting. In this mode output file size can be specified and bitrate would be allocated automatically. Since TMPGEnc Server can use up to 20pass, optimized results can be expected.
- Control through MS-DOS Prompt (Server)
As requested from many business users TMPGEnc now supports control from the MS DOS prompt. This way, each user can make the user interface and TMPGEnc can now be run from inside the program. It also offers the possibility of fully automating the process through a combination of software.
Improved in this version:
- In the project wizzard, for the setting concerning the bitrate, the file size in MB will be shown instead of the duration for "CD-R 74min (VCD/SVCD)" and for"CD-R 80min (VCD/SVCD)"
- When error occurs during "Prefetch Video", the details will be shown.
- When using "DirectShow Multimedia Reader", from now on only Linear PCM, 8/16 bit, 1/2 will be accepted for the audio input.
Fixed in this version
- Problem occuring when using an external MP2/MP3 encoder. For certain settings, the CRC value or the error protection could be changed .
- When the audio was re-sampled in high quality mode, if the input was monoral, errors could occur.
- During the encoding, some "Drag and drop" files could be accepted from the Explorer.
