| 46th Grammy Awards *Subbed* (2004) English | |
| The GRAMMY Awards honor recordings in 105 categories across 31 fields, from rap to rock to classical. The 46th GRAMMYs began with an explosive, surprise entrance by Prince, and by evening's end the show had crowned a new pop princess, as BeyoncEnot only shared the stage with the Purple One for the show-opening performance, but also went home with awards in five out of the six categories she was nominated in. The show delivered plenty of joyous, uplifting musical moments, including a roof-raising tribute to funk that brought together Earth, Wind & Fire, OutKast, Robert Randolph And the Family Band and George Clinton's Parliament Funkadelic. But the show also contained a remarkable number of truly touching emotional high points. A celebration of the music of Luther Vandross, who has been recovering from a stroke, had audience eyes misting up during Alicia Key's rendition of "A House Is Not A Home," and an elegantly poised Celine Dion overcame the night's most prominent technical glitch to deliver a heartfelt "Dance With My Father." Vandross himself delivered thanks by way of a special pre-taped video message. In marking the 40th anniversary of the Beatles performance on "The Ed Sullivan Show," an all-star quartet including Sting, Dave Matthews, Vince Gill, and Pharrell Williams ripped through "I Saw Her Standing There." But later in the show the music of the Fab Four was saluted in a more poignant way by Olivia Harrison and a clearly moved Yoko Ono. Perhaps the most powerful emotional moments came toward the end of the show, when a memorial segment dedicated to artists who passed away in 2003 concluded with the late Warren Zevon singing his "Keep Me In Your Heart" on video screens, with backup vocals provided by friends and family that included Jackson Browne, Billy Bob Thornton, Dwight Yoakam, Emmylou Harris, Jorge Calderón, Timothy B. Schmit, and Zevon's grown son and daughter, Jordan and Ariel.
The quality on this rip is amazing. There are Chinese subtitles that appear but they are not distracting at all. Also, the subtitles don't appear during the musical performances. All thanks to Team TLF for this one.
